Welcome to my web site. My name is Fran Evans Mayes
and I am honored you stopped by.
Allow me to introduce you to the Amazin Frenchies. I know, once
introduced, you
too will fall in love with these amazing little dogs just as we
did.
I
have included information about the French Bulldog, for those new to
the breed, as well as pictures of our Frenchies. (That is our favorite
part). I hope you enjoy your stay and return often to check out our
updates.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The French Bulldog is an fun-loving, active, intelligent, ready to
please small dog. They are gentle, affectionate, obedient (sometimes)
and very responsive. They enjoy being with their people and are true
companions. They do not require a large amount of grooming, but they
generally like the brushing and attention. If you are lucky enough to
be loved by a Frenchie, he will make it his priority to be the center
of your attention. They are clowns and they love to make you laugh. A
Frenchie is as happy with a child as with an older person, but he is
happiest sharing a chair with his special person.
Frenchies come in a variety of colors, the most common colors are
brindle, cream/fawn and pied which is a mostly white dog with patches
of color. A Frenchie can be a wonderful addition to the family no
matter what color he happens to wear.
We do not offer any of the "designer" colors many people are
interested in. The original colors of the Frenchie were
brindle, pied and
the black masked fawn. Some of the "designer" colors are
carried
on recessive genes and those genes can also carry health
concerns.
Frenchies can be happy being apartment dogs but can be equally happy in
the country. Just don't expect them to actually "do" anything except
maybe nap in the sun. They have been bred over the years to be
companions and they do that job very well. They see everyone as
"friend", therefore, they do not make good guard dogs. Add all this up
and you get one amazing little dog.
There
are some health concerns that mostly stem from having a "dwarf" type
body, but in general they are a healthy breed and live approximately 10
years. They do not tolerate the heat well, and there can be breathing
problems. Yes, they snore - quite loudly at times.
